isn't there a difference between 96-98 and 99-04 h-pipes? And a difference between 96-98 GTs and Cobra H-pipes?

 

between 96-98 and 99-04 the 02 sensor placement is different. you can still make them work but if you get the correct year it will be a lot easyer.

i also heard from a reputible shop that 96-98 cobra and gt midpipes are interchangible

 

I need one that will fit PI manifolds, I've got a PI headswap, any year between 96 and 04 is the same...

First of all your pi swap doesnt matter for this. Second you didnt specify whether or not you had lt headers or stock manifolds (headers). I have a o/r h-pipe for sale for lt headers but I am guessing you dont have them or else you would already have the pipe.
