When a car looks this authentic, and underneath it has been upgraded to be an even better racer, then this 1970 Plymouth Superbird Richard Petty replica is the awesome kind of tribute that can run circles around the original. So dig into all the details, because the look is pure nostalgia, but the powertrain and suspension are pure street machine.

You can tell they sweated the details when creating this car. It wasn't just about adding a nose cone, using the correct blue paint, and getting Petty's number right. This car is a rotisserie restoration that was taken down to bare metal. They studied the history of one of the most iconic cars to ever hit the oval track, and gave it a full rebuild to make sure this one faithfully represents the greatest aero car around. That means a correct front air dam, triple hood pins, panels riveted over the door handles, reinforced front and rear glass, all the right sponsor decals, and that hallmark rear wing that can be adjusted. And people who know NASCAR will see the smallest details, like the size of the fuel filler cap/neck and custom blue NASCAR steelies with true Goodyear stampings.

Just like the exterior, the interior is a faithful setup with an exceptionally fresh feeling. This is a true time machine experience with a racer's bucket w/race harness, drop-down window net, the thin steering wheel with grip tape, toggle switches, and a panel full of Stewart Warner gauges. And this is also built to still remain a competition machine, so you get a custom integrated full roll cage, fire extinguisher, and Hurst shifter. Plus, that the differential cooler in the rear is another authentic-style piece that's also excellent for the track. About the only thing that Petty didn't have that you get was the passenger seat... but it's hard not to want to share this level of authentic fun with someone else.

Your first glance under the hood gives more of that feeling of a big investment in authenticity. The motor looks race-ready with the special air intake, NASCAR aluminum intake manifold, and even the cool oil blow-by tube up front. But as you dig deeper, you start to see the investment here was also in making a more modern and beastly V8. Petty never got a 472 cubic-inch Hemi like this younger Mopar performance motor. More than just displacement, this has a massive Quick Fuel 1050 CFM FX-series four-barrel carburetor, 580 lift camshaft, and ceramic-coated long tube headers that add power with contributing to the thunder of the side pipes. A monster motor like this needs proper fuel delivery, and so you have stainless fuel lines, Holley electric fuel pump, and Earl's fuel regulator. There are even thoughtful driving upgrades like an aluminum radiator and power steering. You're going to love having full control over this powerful package and its thunderous soundtrack thanks to the close-ratio four-speed manual transmission. And don't forget to look at the undercarriage photos. Not only is it exceptionally clean (after all, there's only about 3,200 miles on the build,) but also you'll see the best in fresh performance components. This includes tubular control arms up front, a triangulated four-link rear, a limited slip rear end, and Ride Tech adjustable coilovers at each wheel. Also behind each wheel are Wilwood drilled & slotted disc brakes.
