another '65 2 dr wagon saved!
Today I swapped out the turn signal switch on the steering column....took the good undisturbed one from the parts wagon and transferred to my project wagon.....the prior owner or owners of this car apparantly spliced the wiring but went on a cutting spree...the rest of the 6 cylinder steering box and column I chucked curbside for the metal man...man does he love me!
Not much to report lately.....just trading alot of parts for other parts....got a hold of a spare tire cover, radio feed supply wire for the stock AM radio, and the correct black falcon radio knobs....ebay has gotten me some nice parts as well as selling them too...unfortunately even with a 3 car garage I don't have room for extra parts...pretty much whatever I think I will use in the next yr I will keep.....also keeps me from procrastinating on the fixes when I see the parts out in the open.....any small step is movement in the right direction!
Got a hold of some ebay goodies for the wagon but not much else to let you fellows know
'65 Fomoco autolite 2100 1.14 carb (rebuilt and restored already)
'65 2 barrel fomoco factory cast iron intake

Now I really know that this wagon is rare! It is important to keep the classics alive and well and not in the jaws of the crusher.......mine again is a v8 wagon with a/c, ford made most of their wagons as 6 cylinder econo vehicles....I got this report from Sam over @ AIC (automotive information clearinghouse)

roof update:
took off the B pillar on the donor roof....only had a couple of spot welds and had to take off one of the ribs.....the 4 dr roof is different only in the placement of the B Pillar.....thinking that the window section between the B & C pillar can be taken out as it is held on with spot welds 3/4's of the way around...if my calculations and measuring is correct it should fall into place

I have turned my attention away from the roof situation until I get a mig welder/air compressor.....got hooked up with a '65 tailgate from someone in the falcon club of america....it is a rust free TX tailgate that is complete and has the manual crank....I didn't realize how hard tailgates are to find since most of them ,it seems rot out on the bottom....I have also found a good use for the falcon in its deteoriated "state"....with halloween a few days away I intend on pushing it out in the driveway and using it as a "falcon hearse" ....it will be complete with strobe lights and fog machine in it along with a "parking for the dead only" sign....SO WHO SAID ROTTED OUT CARS CAN'T BE USED AGAIN?"
Quick update:
I pretty much have the rest of the car gutted except for the rearend, suspension/steering linkage, etc so she is just a roller....I have decided that the roof situation is best in the hands of a restoration shop....found a shop on craigslist in my area and had the owner stop by this am at the house...he looked at the roof situation and was "excited" to want to work on the grocerygetter.....He was really cool and honest about the work and came prepared with a list of ref's, pics of prior projects he did, and a business card...definetly won over my business and showed that he really "cared" about the restoration....so tomorrow am the wrecker is going to come and haul her off for the donor roof to be welded on
