Default 86 Notch Project

Hey guys, I'm still relatively new around ford tech. My name is Harley and I picked up an 86 4cyl/auto notch a little while back with the intention of building a turbo 5.0 efi car. However, funds are a little limited at the time so i'm just going to go NA for the time being.

First I picked up a 5.0 HO engine from a 92 gt with 120k miles on it. I was going to piece together the 5spd swap and all of the odds and ends needed. Then about a week ago I got a really good deal on an 89 GT, a little beat up, but has all of the parts I need. Engine has had nitrous and who knows how many miles on it.

So, here is my plan. I want take all needed parts from the GT and put in my coupe. I would like to use the 92 engine though since it has less miles and the car was owned by an older lady that bought it new and had it until it was totaled. Am I going to run into any problems with an 89 harness in a 86 4 eyed car? What about my dash gauges/lights? Or any other problems with anything? I don't plan to run A/C and I may try to buy a Flaming River manual rack before I do the swap, but probably won't be able to afford it yet.

Thanks for any input, Harley.

EDIT: Car will be a street/strip car. It's going to be a toy, not a DD at all. And here are some pics!

for plug and play you need the 86 5.0 harness, and it's a one year only deal. you will also have to convert it to mas air. you could use the 89 harness, just going to have to do some splicing. an 86 an 89 factory wire diagram will be you friend.

I considered it actually. Unless I change my mind again I'm going 5.0 efi/t5. Then later down the road a turbo setup.

Looks like a solid project car. Make sure to check the cowl area, that was a deal breaker on mine.

There seem to be a lot of 4 eyed white coupes around TR.
