Paulino's Ls/Vtec build thread!
A few months ago I got started on this. I have an eg hatch si model painted EBP off of the 2000 Si with some silver pearl in it. Will try and get some pics of the hatch as soon as time allows. Picture I will post is with it's previous swap, still looks the same minus the special K.
Head:
- P72 base (GSR)
- Ported/polished/3 angle valve job Done by USW w/ receipt
- Ferrea Stainless Steel valves (standard spec)
- Supertech titanium valve springs/retainers
- Head was shaved .010"
- NEW ARP headstuds
- NEW Port matched AEBS intake manifold, fully polished outside casing, ported by Rogue
- NEW Omni Power 68 mm TB
- NEW Toda timing belt
- NEW OEM Cam caps
- NEW OEM RDX 410 CC injectors
- Outlaw Engineering thermoblok spacer kit
- 3" Intake routed to the front bumper with BPI Velocity Stack
- Skunk2 Pro 2 + camshafts
- Skunk2 Pro series cam gears (newer design 6 bolt)
- Skunk2 3 O-ring Cam Seal
- Skunk2 Alpha series header
- Skunk2 Vtec solenoid cap
- Skunk2 magnetic drain bolt set
Block:
- B18B1 base
- 81.5 mm Usdm ITR spec pistons (P73-A0)
- Decked/honed by United Speed World in Tampa
- Balanced to 10k (by Proven Power w/ receipt)
- NEW NPR Piston rings
- NEW Main caps
- NEW ARP Rod bolts on stock rods
- NEW ARP Main studs
- NEW OEM gaskets/seals used throughout build
- NEW OEM connecting rod bearings
- NEW OEM main bearings
- NEW OEM thrust washers
- NEW OEM ITR oil pump
- NEW OEM ITR water pump
- Align honed by United Speed World
Misc:
- NEW Golden Eagle LS/V kit (Bought BNIB, have receipt)
- OEM Gsr valve cover professionally powdercoated forrest green pearl (oem teggy dark green) by Tranceologist..cleanly shaven to say "oh vtec" instead of "dohc vtec", moon cuts for fine dyno tuning
- Killerglass upper and lower radiator hoses..Only 3 made for the states, other two are in California so this will really set this swap apart from the "usual" ls/vtec swaps
- Exedy Stage 2 clutch/flywheel/pressure plate
- B16 transmission
- OBD1 gsr wiring harness (bought mint with labels, not hacked for better "vtec" )
- Chipped P61 Ecu by Neal Sutton
- OEM mounts
- OEM axles
- OEM shift linkage (Bought brand new, still in Honda packaging)
- Skunk2 2.5" Exhaust
- Mickey Thompson E.T. street's 225/50/15 drag radials
- How the head was shaved and the block was decked, with all pieces put into perspective, the static compression of this motor sits at 12.4:1
- The over boring leaves the motor at 1857 cc's.
- Yes I could have bought many of these parts used off of here but I spared no expense. Reliability does not come cheap or easy. Absolutely no second thoughts with this work.
- All machine shop work was done at United Speed World in Tampa.
- Have a manila folder filled with over $1,200 in machine shop receipts alone.
- Motor was put together with time, plastigauge and stock factory torque specs were used
- Motor was also clayed just to make sure everything would be perfect
- Really took my time with this, did not cut any corners
Comments/questions are welcome! If it's negative just hit that big red/white X at the top right of the screen!
