I love the fab work. Welds are awesome and tubing/plates look professional.

It seems from the pics that the lower control arm mounts coming from the body have a bending moment about them. I dont mean to criticize, this work really is phenomenal, I just wanted to know if you took this into consideration. Mad props to you and g/l with the build.

Default bending brackets

The brackets for the control arms are not supported yet, once the motor and axles are mounted I will start to close in the new engine bay and support them. At the time that the pics were taken I didnt have motor mounts in, so I left out all of the supports for clearance. This way I wouldnt have to rework anything, I was waiting on somebody to say something about them, bc thats the first thing that I thought too

Yea for the high quality of work present it seemed like that was the case. Just wanted to make sure- you know how it is, sometimes you cant see where the forest is b/c there are too many trees in the way- especially when you get into the middle of an extensive project like this. Keep it up!

Default update

I havent done too much, I have been out of town working. There are now some supports installed and the engine bay is starting to be closed in. Also one motor mount has been installed and another started. The most exciting update is that I got a type s, k20a2!!! Im still going to use the 5speed trans though.
here are some pics

Default brakes and mounts

I had to make a bracket for the rear disc brakes to go on. The existing bracket is for front brakes, but then I wouldn't have an E-brake. I used a template for the bolt holes and welded 2 pieces of 3/16 plate together. Layering the metal makes it stronger than just one solid piece.

The side motor mounts are done now, except for filling them with polyurethane. At first I boxed the motor in by welding the engine bay part of the mount. So i cut it out and welded nuts to washers then spot welded them to the back of the engine bay. This way there would be a solid mount, but also allows me to remove it easily when I pull the engine.
