Default Painting a A/W Intercooler?

Ive got a spearco Air to Water intercooler on my car. Now first off i hate chrome and also polish, i love to have things painted. Well the intercooler is polished. My question is, can i paint it with high temp paint with no ill effects? Will the high temp paint keep the high engine temps from heat soaking my intercooler as bad or will it possibly just hold in heat better and thus work worse? What do you guys think?
