ok heres the deal, running a to4 turbo on a 2.3t swapped ranger. it lags SUPER bad, doesnt even create boost in 1st and hits usable boost in late 2nd gear. i dont know the exact specs of the turbo (AR) or anything but it seems like the turbine housing is WAY to big compared to the compressor housing. the turbo system works completely fine, no leaks so i know its not that. is there any kind of mods i can do to the turbo to get a faster spool? smaller turbine housing, bigger compressor wheel?

Your EBR has got to be super low with that, so the EGT's must look nice.
Honestly? A 50 to 75 shotshot out of the hole. I had a smililar turbo on my Xr4 with the 2.3t and I used a 75 shot to spool it.

If you want faster spool on the street, ditch that turbo.
That's a ~1.2 A/R turbine housing, it's huge. With that wheel you don't have many options of smaller hotsides.

 

so no compressor housing options with this turbo? will any "T" turbine housing work? im looking to drift this truck and spray wont be an option. im thinking i might just pick up a T3/T4.

 

It looks to be a T04b, possibly a Vtrim. Let me go through some of my old AirResarch notes.
Just get a .50 trim.
I get 5psi by 2400 and 30psi by 3400rpm. Power comes on HARD.

 

its a to4e im thinking. im gonna explore some turbine housing, compressor wheel options. its running 15psi off the wastegate right now. hopefully with a boost controller and some turbo mods or new turbo i can unlock some potential. i think a ported T28 with a external wastegate, vband turbine housing would kick ass. the trucks so light 320whp and a decently quick spooling turbo would be awesome.

 

Do you have a picture of the compressor housing for me? I can tell you in 30 sec.

 

That turbo has a distinctly flat-topped turbine housing more common on To4b's.

I'm almost ce4rtain that is a V-trim compressor wheel.
The fins are at a very sharp angle and very close together.

 

so where does that put me?
