Hey
Im in Quantico VA visiting my brother right now and he is having what we think is a problem with his turbo car. He drives a 1991 Prelude with a custom turbo kit on it. Its a T3 turbo with a water/air intercooler. Anyway its been driving fine but just recently it has started to leak a very slight amount of oil. The oil was leaking from the hose that supplied oil to the turbo. And coincidentally shaking started to occur from the front of the car. We thought it was a suspension problem at first but it doesnt seem to be because the shaking is not speed or rpm dependent...it only did it at -10 lbs of boost. Well we got the oil leak fixed and it does not do it anymore. BUT what it does now is it shakes at full throttle. He is only running a 7 lbs. of boost because the car is not yet tuned. So when we floor it...fully open throttle at 7 lbs. of boost it shakes. The shaking is not extremly bad...just slight shaking. Is this shaking normal? I am thinking it is just because the turbo is custom and not really made to fit and work on the engine perfectly. Also his down pipe has a pretty large dent in it from the shitty DC roads. Could this be what is causing it?

Any insight would be greatly apprietiated.
Thanks
Mike.

what condition are the motor mounts in? You might want to check on those. If the motor mounts are broken youll get vibrations and also if you have polyurethane mounts youll feel all the vibrations inside the car.

Hey thanks for the advice.
We figured out what the problem was. The inner boot of the CV joint was jacked and was causing the vibrating. We got it fixed so the car is running fine now...except for the crushed down pipe.

BTW hes selling me the car soon...so it looks like im gonna have a lot on my hands...turbo hondas...ahh...Im gonna be pretty stressed this fall.
