Help with turbo

Can I use a turbo from a 94 eclipse in my 93 civic with changing the manifold piping etc....? Please help.

May I ask WHY? Those turbos are total shit from what i have heard. if they where not then why would many of the eclipse guys be runnings larger turbos (16-20g-?)?.....either get a custom kit done with T3/T4 turbo and all of the pipin or just buy a greddy kit/ drag kit.

In case your wondering guys any turbo can be put on any car(within reason) with a custom manifold. Is it worth it?? probably not I would suggest a DRAG KIT. If your gonna use the eclipse turbo I would definetly consider a rebuild.(see Charlie @ CMR next to spec-R) And for turbo size a 16g is equal to a T3
a T3/T04E is equal to a 20G and if you had a full T04E it would be equal to a 28G.

Rocky is correct. The 95+ Eclipse turbos are known as the T-too-small turbos. Although it could be done for a cheaper price tag the expense you would pay in hassle would far exceed that of a DRAG or F-Max kit. That would be my suggestion.

The 14b turbo for the eclipse/talon/laser is good for the 12s on our car. The reason why DSM owners upgrade to bigger turbo is you get more hoursepower at higer RPMs. The problem with going with a bigger turbo is it takes a lot more RPMs(more exhaust) to get those larger turbos to spin faster as where as; the smaller turbos take less RPMs to spool but land flat on their face at high RPMs.

The 94 Eclipse turbo is a 14B which would support up to around 280HP (around 450 CFM) at 15psi on a DSM. This is assuming you have an engine built to take the higher boost. The 14B with the correct combination has been proven to run low 12s to high 11s (very hard on the turbo when you run that far out of its effeciency range -- 24+ psi) at the track with a good launch. I would assume that since you are talking about dropping it on a much lighter car that 12s would not be out of the question if you could manage to hook the car up out of the hole and had the engine built to take the abuse.

The 95 and up turbos are the T25 which dont do much more than heat the air up. The 14B found on 1G DSM models make a fairly good street turbo because of their quick spool.

Just ask Joe (94TSiAWD)...hes been running 13.0s at the track with his factory issue 14B without a problem. I ran a best of 13.5 on my 14B @ 14psi on pump gas...some race fuel and 10 more psi and 12s shouldnt have been a problem except that the turbo failed on me that day.

If you did bolt the 14B up you could upgrade to a 16G later without any major changes (inlet and outlets are the same as are oil and water supply). A small 16G will push 505CFM and a Big 16G can produce 550CFM (340 and 380 HP respectively @ 15psi). If you planned on going all out I would suggest the Garrett route...if you are looking for a cheap alternative use the 14B you have.

You can save a lot over a turn-key kit and usually get a better product if you piece it together yourself. It just takes a little more work sourcing the parts...
