Nitrous install question
Nitrous install question
I'm getting ready to install the kit on my truck. I wanted to set it up so it automatically will engage. A WOT switch is out of the question die to my truck is fly by wire(no throttle cables). How does the TPS work with having it set up working off it? My truck has it all built together so I would just have to figure out which wire is which. What special equipment would I need besides the kit to run it that way?
p.s. Please excuse my lack of knowledge, if it wasn't so new I might have a clue lol.

You need a TPS switch. Several companies make them now, NX makes them...also check Dynotune.org. Sould be about a $30-$50 item. It just has a power, ground and an input tapped of a wire on the TPS sensor that will read the 0-4.5 volt output. Some you can even set so that it activates the kit at say...4.1 volts (which will equal a specific throttle %) or adjust it to any voltage (throttle angle) you want. I like the TPS setup myself...mayes for a very clean install and no hoky WOT switches with little levers you have to bend just right.

If you have a friend who into electronics, its not that hard to make one. The brains behind the operation is a 1 dollar op amp, set up asa comparator. Basically using a trim pot you set a voltage threshold. Below the threshold the output is 0v, above the threshold its full voltage of the amp, probably 5V or 12V depending on the amp selected.
Use this to drive a mosfet and you're golden. Could be made with about 5 dollars worth of parts if you feel like cracking a Electronics for Beginners book from Radio Shack, or have a friend make it.
