Heard of tail pipe turbos?
I would like to hear from anyone who might have some info on tailpipe turbo systems. The website is STSturbo.com . They are marketing their product mainly to trucks and SUV's. They do have a couple kits for Camaros. I know these are not all out race type systems, but they look like they could add some fun factor to a slug.
Visit the site and let me know legite or not.
Thanks Mark

thats strange, i suppose its an ok idea, the only thing you might want to change is run a pipe from the turbocharger on up to an air filter elsewhere... im sure in rain tons of water get up near there and i wouldnt want to risk compressing water

On the web site they address some of those issues.

I am sure the turbo is hot, but not 1000 due to the placement. If a muffler is placed from the factory near the gas tank there should be some kind of heat shield. If you put a turbo there, then maybe you could add some insulating material to the factory shield. As far as the big power issue, this company is marketing the kits to trucks and SUV's and not to the hard core turbo enthusiast.

I encourage you to give me your opion about the system, but next time tell me why. Saying it is ineffient and nothing more, doesn't tell me anything. Please let me know why you think it is the most inefficent way to may boost.

it actually sounds like a decent idea. all it does is move the turbo further down the exhaust path, if you think about it a log manifold compared to an equal length mani is the same thing, just a bit more drastic in this case. I am concerned about the air intake but if its in a truck and you don't drive through deep water you should be ok, I mean think about it in a turbo'd import the air filter sits anywhere from a 12" to 36" off the ground, and in a truck that is easy to get in the rear. I would consider relocating it as high as possible and definately adding a bov even with an auto.
my only other concern is the oil pump, if it goes your screwed, I do like the idea of putting an alarm on the pump as a warning but I'd like more info on the quality of the pump to decide for sure.
one question is it says you don't have to tap the oil pan and the return is run to the valve cover, how is it attached? is it tapped the same as the oil pan? and how close to the turbo is the pump located. If you could do this with like a morrosso pump then cool. hell I wouldn't mind trying to make my own system on my elcamino, a hell of a lot easier than running twin turbos. just need a small turbo like a .48 or.42 exhaust .42 compressor t3 or a t25 maybe?
looks fairly cheap to build, no intercooler needed, no exhaust mani needed, no down pipe needed, hell that right there cuts 600 - 1200 off the cost. the added expense would be the oil pump.
I say its not half bad, its def thinking out of the box.

Your right, adding 120hp to your 200hp truck in 8 hours is terribly inefficent. What was I thinking.
