street tuning vs. dyno
I have a a b16 crx that will soon be turbo'd and converted to obd1 and will be running hondata. I am on a budget so what I want to know is would I be ok street tuning the entire spectrum, what i mean is instead of street tuning to 70% throttle and dyno tuning 71% and up, could I street tune all of it? this is my daily driver and will only see the track for 1 day after the turbo goes on and then again after I sleeve the block and have a built motor.
basically I want to save the money on the dyno time to be able to spend it on parts for my car.
what would be the pros and cons of doing this?
thanks

street tuning if u have a good wideband can actually be more accurate because its actaully puting the extra load on the motor from the weight of the car.
things such as igntion timing and cam timing can be optimized on the dyno tho because the power gains off the two are usually not enough to notice with the ass dyno

Go to the middle of nowhere and do it.Pm me if you need some ideas and i can give you some roads.Damn havent heard of a turbo crx on this board since i had one.Power to weight ratios in your favor rocks.

i plan on using the aem uego wideband gauge style unit, and when I get ready to get rine tuned for optimum hp then I'll hit the dyno, but for now I want to get on the road and let the ass dyno feel the difference from the stock 160hp to the 10psi turbo hp.

If you're gonna dyno tune it, I recommend a Mustang brand dyno like Coastal uses, because it will load the motor just like it sees on the street.
Its not impossible to street tune, but its not safe either. You'll definitely want someone watching the gauges and running the datalogger while you drive. As far as suggestions for locations, the Howard Franklin bridge or the Causeway bridge late at night would probably be the most convenient and safest.

well actually hondata tells you that you MUST do some kind of "street tuning" for a lower end map, and then like you said a high throttle map, this is why hondata tuning is supposed to take so long.
i have already had my car tuned for WOT @ coastal and am very happy with it, me and sam did a nice job. but i forgot to do any kind of partial throttle tuning, so for 3 days i have been driving around with the wideband and logging, and seeing the different loads and throttle points to adjust at, after 3 days i have a good OFF WOT tune and still remained the same for WOT.
if you wanna save some money go get uberdata and scrap the hondata and save yourslef a shitload of money, i did and am happy as hell with it
