Default Swain Tech BBE Coated Intercooler

Well, a customer/friend had his Precision AIC-750 intercooler coated BBE at Swain Tech. It turned out good. I'm going to give Swain Tech a call tomorrow and see how thick their BBE coatings are. I might do this to my intercooler and offer it for other's since there are no anodizing shops around here that are open normal hours.

UPS damaged the intecooler

A closer shot

Looks real nice. From what I hear among the budget/junkyard turbo enthusiasts, the paint used to paint factory radiators does the same thing for a fraction of the price.

Allot of people use paint but he went with BBE coating. I'm sure he will see some benefits from using Swain Tech's BBE. It ended up costing him $148.00 SHIPPED. With spray paint you have to be careful to only hit the fins and from what I have read anything over .008 is going to reduce the intercooler's ifficiency. How much? I don't know.

Also, with a $500.00+ intercooler what is another $148.00

It wouldn't hurt. Put it that way. When people look over at that white Civic they will have to look harder to see the front mount How did things go in South Florida (you can pm me).

BBE coating: its better than nothing! IIRC, thats the same stuff they use on the nose of the NASA shuttles right? it actually REJECTS heat... painting is a bad idea, thru and thru.

i dont wanna hear someone say "well if you only keep it at X.xxx thickness, its ok"... Psh, yea, like anyone YOU know can control the thickness of aersol paint application down to the thousandth of an inch? its ok if you arent lookni to squeeze every bit of HP out of your setup... but i suspect, like me, Alpha DOES want every bit of power.

Swaintech it is! they are also my first choice for piston crown and skirt coatings too

True. I was under the impression the cost of the coating was more than that.
