Default Spring for a manual boost controller?

I was tempted to post this in general car chat for a larger number of views, but it's a question more suitable for this forum.

The manual boost controller that came with my car is dead, and I'm sick of 8 psi. I'm mostly done building a manual boost controller with some parts from the bike shop and HDPE (thanks, kenny, for getting me the hook-up with them ). The only thing I'm having difficulty finding is the spring. Where in Tampa do you go to buy springs? I need one of exactly 3/16" diameter, and if they're not too expensive I've going to buy several of different lengths and spring rates. Nobody I've asked can give me a good answer to this question, please help me out.

Hardware store hoss, but learn from my mistake with cheap boost controllers...mine fucked up and I saw 30 psi, just suck it up and get a electric controller..oh so much nicer.

Or buy an adjustable pressure regulator with a low pressure range. Its all you are building anyways.

In fact I am selling the adjustable MBC out of my porsche since I am replacing it with an EBC. Its a locking type so you don't have to worry about it accidentally turning and going out of adjustment.

If you run some pressure hose through the fire wall you can even set up cockpit adjustability with this one.

$50 OBO. PM me if you are interested.

You can see how its mounted in my car just to the left of my clutch pedal.

I don't trust those fuckers anymore, if it clogs, it prevents any pressure from hitting the wastegate and bam...overboost.

Mine worked pretty good except that the length of the lines running half the length of the car and back again made it a little spikey.

I'd buy your boost controller for 50 bucks, if I had 50 bucks. :o

I'd love to have an electronic controller, nothing fancy, something like a profec b spec II. I'll probably buy one after the problem I just mentioned has been solved for a while.

As for the spring, my local ACE hardware let me down on all of the parts, but I was able to source a spring that looks like it will work from a 20-year-old Dacor regulator at work. I also have an idea on how to prevent the loss of the adjustment screw and overboost.

buschur also WANTS 30psi

try the hardware store or just run wastegate pressure untill you can afford an EBC. if you dont have the moeny to do things the RIGHT way, then dont do them at all, or you'll do it TWICE and then have even less money.
