If the rules don't say it has to be weighed AFTER a race, it was legal when they weighed it before the race.
and that is not breaking any rules!

If gas tank size is legal before a race and the gas is not checked AFTER the race, it was legal when it was checked.

Taking yourself out of the race to let a team mate place higher is the same as agreeing on when to pit to let a team mate place higher.
There is nothing that says that is illegal.

If NASCAR doesn't measure the shape of the car body, it is not illegal to race a warped car.

If the rules are not specifically written, the things that are not written are not illegal.

Yunick had the engine built to rotate clockwise, instead of the usual counterclockwise, which was a radical approach at the time. Why the Reverse Rotation? The key idea was to change the engine's rotational direction to influence the car's balance and handling, especially on oval tracks where the front right wheel takes most cornering stress. With a standard engine rotation, more torque reaction transferred weight to the front right wheel, which Yunick believed was detrimental. By reversing the rotation, he aimed to shift weight distribution and mechanical forces to improve

performance and handling. However, reversing the engine's rotation posed huge challenges because the drivetrain components (ring gear, pinion, quick-change axles) were designed for standard rotation. Yunick had to rebuild or source mirror-image drivetrain parts (such as Halibrand’s “Front QC” quick-change axles designed for front-drive and four-wheel-drive racers) to accommodate the reversed rotation. Performance and Outcome Despite the complexity, the Reverse Torque Special qualified 12th and finished 7th in the 1959 Indianapolis 500, a respectable showing for an

experimental design. It demonstrated Yunick’s fearless creativity and technical mastery, even if it didn’t revolutionize racing. His work preserved the tradition of pushing engineering boundaries within the constraints of the time.

Never heard of this one. But I heard Leonard Wood made some intake gaskets that had wax inserts that melted out and allowed extra air into the intake runners. Also heard of wax being used in carb and intake bolts having tiny holes in them with wax that melted away and allowed extra air into the intake system.

 

A-hole hacks who copy someone elses article are the real cheaters who NEVER read the rules and don't know anything
about cars.

Jerks who jump onto acid dipping don't know that if minimum weight is specified in the rule book,
acid dipping lightens and then the weight is added back in....usually making a lower center of gravity.

And if a rule has no way to check it and if it's not in the rule book it is not cheating.
That's why cars are weighed after a race instead of before the race.
