I know I'm just being critical of other people, and I remember how excited I was to get a new lens for my camera, but now that I've had quite some time shooting, this frustrates me. I guess it's one thing if you know you want a zoom lens, and you go and buy say a 600mm . However, it drives me nuts if you buy a Macro lens, and you don't even know why you are buying it, other than "Someone said it was a good lens."

I've found so much of photography is actually about reading and learning before actually taking pictures. I am much more "in-tune" with what I will need to do before I do a shoot or bring my camera somewhere. I already have an idea of what I would like to do, or an angle I'd like to get. Not just go into it blindly. I think this applies for lenses as well.

Anyway, I figured this would be a good topic of conversation. Discuss.

Btw he's talking about an actual ball python.

I think you let the "noobs" get to you a little too much, ya gotta just let this kinda stuff go man.

Well, the more I think about it, I believe it's me not wanting people to blow $600 if they don't know what they're actually buying. Maybe not so critical, but more I want to do the right thing and save them. LOL

i'm all about jumping in blind.

note to the new guys:
you need all the glass they can afford. the more glass the better you'll be! give's you a bigger selection of gear to play with to find the right shot! and if you decided it's not the right lens for you you can always just sell it after all it's just money

To answer the question, No. It's just you. J/K

Reminds me of this, though...

Just found this on another forum I'm on. Could just be his way of bragging. Not sure if serious.

That's funny as hell.

The person ended up figuring out how to use the lens though:
