Default photo critics give me some input....

these are a couple pix i took of my fiance, i know the backdrop isnt the best but what am i doing wrong, and what am i doing right? (if anything ) no need to be overly harsh just trying to better myself editing was done via CS4 extended on a laptop with a shitty screen so if some colors dont seem right, they probably arent

Calibrate the screen, its pretty simple and will help a LOT.

And yes, as previously stated her skin tones are way off...which appears to be because the contrast or saturation is just jacked up with the slider lol.

Also, watch the crops. Dont cut off her hands, or the top of her head. Depth of field seems to be good, so you've got the right idea there. I know these are just candids but step over enough to get that car out of the background next time.

I'm sorry, I got lazy and worded that wrong. See what the digital age has done? lol. What you need to work on is framing, which gives the same result as cropping just done in camera. That said, use the digital to your advantage, frame a little loose and crop later til you get the framing nailed down.

And calibration softwares are everywhere, I cant remember what I used but a quick google search will produce results Im positive.

^ I understood what you were refering to about the cropping, i was just simply stating that these were un cropped photos.

thanks for the info and suggestions.

they are cropped, what he's saying is when you push that button to take the photo you just cropped a picture. try to get all of her into the picture, let it be her head or her hands try and not to crop/cut them out. take a step back or something to get a more full photo of her and then once that is done then crop it on the computer to your liking. its good to have more then have missing/none as you can fix it all digital on the computer.
