Well I left my strobes at home last night and went out to try some new ideas I had using this lighting method. I parked and had the camera out for about 2 minutes before a security guard felt the need to flex his super powers.

I've decided that my car isnt the best to play around with this technique on, since its black. In pure darkness its very hard to get even light around the car like Im used to getting with my strobes. This is 3 different exposures, one for the top of the car, one for the bottom, and one for the boats. I think maybe I'm expecting too much in pure darkness from a $20 light lol!

Do you have a link for this technique? Instead of asking you to write one up? I kinda have an idea how this works, but not 100%. I take it your in a near total dark place, and the lights are on when you are taking the picture. At least that's what I get from the pic with the Civic and the boats.

Yeah, the last picture with the Civic and the boats shows a bit of the technique better because I removed nothing from the photo at all, it's a terrible shot really.

You basically toy around with long shutter speeds and walk the light around the car, in a nutshell. It's certainly easier on cars that aren't black, but it's far from easy.

Ok. that is kind of what I had in my head. I hope to learn some techniques like this one day.

I walk in front of the camera, then step out of frame. Just make sure you don't point the light back at the camera because it will show up.

The long shutter speed, wear dark clothing and ghosting wont be an issue.
