Default Would you trust refurbished lens?

Thinking about this one...comes with warranty and all but wanted to find out if anyone had experience with a refurbished on in the past

Also, how is the price?

If it is truly refurbished by Nikon then yes i would trust it. Jake2k just picked up a nice 18-105 refurb and it works like it was new. Basically Nikon takes a product that may be malfunctioning in someway and they will bring it back up to the standards Nikon would have for any new equipment, but they can't sell it as new since, well, its not. So i would say yes, and if it does malfunction on you you can send it back to Nikon i believe all of their refurbs are guaranteed for 90 days. If there is a problem with the lens it would most likely happen within those 90 days so i would say go for it.

Also Jake2k just sold that same lens for a bit cheaper to pay for his new one. I like the 18-105 much better but to each their own.

I shoot alot at parks like Seaworld and Busch Gardent and find myself in need of more powerful zoom...I will start to carry tripod with me as well.

Thanks for advice, Cola

I would too. Like Jeff said, as long as it's refurb'd by the company, go for it. My 55-250 was a Canon refurb and it worked great for that lens. I just hated the lens lol

Aside from the price, refurbs are also tested more and better than the newly manufactured lens (or other items) which may have only had a brief test.

What are the cons of the 55-200? I realize it is opposite of wide angle lol but figured that with a nice TTL speedlight it may work great

If it's from the manufacturer more power to you. I bought my T1i w/18-55 as a refurb. It was almost $80cheaper and I swear the camera is nicer than a new one haha. Not a single scratch anywhere and it's been tested more than a new one like Tim said. I actually plan on buying refurb's from now on lol.
