Thinking about a camera upgrade..
If all goes as planned I'm getting back some money that has been owed to me over the course of this year and am looking to upgrade my camera. As most of you know i currently shoot with a Nikon D40, which is a great entry level DSLR, but I feel it is time to upgrade soon while i will have the extra cash to do so. If things go as planned and i get the money back, I plan to sell my D40 with a few extras and put that money with what I receive to get a new camera. I would like a more professional camera that could handle higher ISOs, more FPS, and possibly an internal motor for focusing older lenses. I have done research and came up with 3 cameras that i am contemplating getting and probably going to buy used but in excellent to like new quality from KEH.
Nikon D90
I may have to save up a bit extra even after getting paid back and selling my D40 stuff, but it may be worth it.
Nikon D80
If I got this i should have some money left over for a new lens and some accessories
Nikon D200

What do you think?

I would say D90 unless you really need weather sealing or the extra frames per second with a professional buffer- then go with the D200. (5fps vs. 4.5fps sounds close but the D90 will bog down after 6-7 raw shots while the D200 will burn off 4x that many before ever slowing down.)
The buffer on the D200 and the build quality are the 2 major things i like on it over the D90, but the D90 can handle much higher iso than the D200 and i think that may be more important to me.
As far as selling the D40, it wont be until i have money in hand because the least amount of time i have to go without a camera, the better. So i don't plan to sell it until i have to. I am not sure what all i am going to include but right now i am THINKING about selling
Nikon D40 (With battery, charger and strap)
Nikon 18-55 AF-S Kit
Sigma 70-210 4/5.6 manual focus
Nikon SB-400
for around $500
If I don't have to sell the sb400 i'm not going to but it really depends on how much money i get paid back.
i wish i could help you out i just bought a D90 .... i don't know shit about photography it seems to be a good camera!

Lol, well if you decide the D90 is too much of a camera to learn on and you want a good entry level DSLR to begin your journey in photography, i would be down to trade you my D40 setup and some cash for it. You can see examples of what can be done with it on my Flickr in my sig.Swing and a miss Alex, swing and a miss...
