Exclamation Serious Photography Opinions Wanted...

Photography has always been a pass time, and a hobby more than anything, but im really starting to get into it. Im wanting to get my own website up, along with a label and wanted opinions on the photographs i list... As a reminder, These pictures were taken with a Olympus C-5500 5.1MP, no backdrop, and on the fly. So i know their not perfect, but, this is something I would really like to get into.

Im looking for serious opinions and not bashing, if you feel the need, go to pit road. I will delete the thread if it starts.

I take constructive critism very well, so if you guys could suggest anything that would help out(other than upgrading on the camera) please dont hesitate.

I'd say try to set up a proper photoshoot and test you composition skills. It's hard to show what you can do with snaps at the track. Find an interesting location and start composing more complex shots instead of just 3/4 views at the track, you know?

1) Like stated above, you need to get one car and pick a location to do an actual shoot.
2) The red hatch with FR500s

Like said above, these are snap shots... not photography. It's more thought out then crouching down and press the button on a camera. I can spend anywhere from 1-4hrs photographing something and then spending 20mins editing a single photo.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. Alot more goes into these than pressing a button lol.

^+1, you're asking us to judge quick shots, which doesn't show much talent or work that can be preformed. none of these are a good platform to judge your work.

set up an actual shoot and take your time and you'll get the opinions you need

Thanks alot guys!!! I really appreciate to comments... Any suggestions on a shoot place? I set a thread in the Ford Forums about me doing a shoot with a few of the guys cars. Im hoping that, next semester i can take this as my major instead of business management.

i'd be careful in this economy with that thinking. Just take a class and do it on the side, if it works, then slowly make it your main thing. if it doesnt you have your business mgt.
As for locations, that's on your own. I usually drive aimlessly around going to random places i'd never go. I've found some amazing places that way.

Id say keep learning business and learn photography on the side, you really don't need a class to learn photography what with all the info online plus what you learn from other photogs.

I always think of it this way, If you were looking to hire a photographer who would you go with: a person with a degree and an ok portfolio or someone with no degree and a kickass portfolio?
