I mean more like UDMA5 and UDMA4 and all that shit. This is my first adventure with CF and I just would like some testimonials or recommendations.

There is no real difference. Some people will say speed but I've never seen it. It's not like I'm racing a memory card.

If you have a decent reader (ie. an external that cost > $10) then you'll notice a difference when copying to/from the computer. Not a huge deal, but it's nice to have decent transfer rates when you transfer 4 or 8gb.

I have had great luck with Transcend cards, and they're relativley cheap. I $15 for 4gb, $20 for 8gb, $35 for 16gb (wow!).

i have 2 sandisk cards that i use, and theyre great. i also have a kodak card, that i hate. there is such a big difference in speeds when i've taken pictures and scroll through them on the camera, so i wouldn't get a kodak one, just from my experience...

I suck it up and just spend the (tiny) bit extra now since the cards are getting fairly cheap and my cards have usually always been the SanDisk's. Currently I have the 4gb Extreme 3 that writes 30mb/s

Yea cards are super cheap compared to what they used to be. Lots of places will have 4 gig extreme cards for $50-$60, and that will hold 1400+ photos depending on your camera

When the camera give you the number of pics it will hold, its usually always an estimate. I put that to the test with my 4 gig when I went to Hawaii, it starts out saying I can take 500 and some change. I ended up close to 1000 on that one card...
