Your shadows are always so silky smooth... is that a function of you smoothing skin or a function of the octabox being a big light source?

Great stuff as usual - not a job that I'd like to have but you certainly seem to be good at it.

big light source = very soft shadows

I think the reason I notice your really soft shadows every time is that you photograph women with big boobs and that's where the shadows seem to be.

The poses seem especially good with this set. Do you have a big part in posing them or do they do their own thing?

they do it themselves usually, sometimes you have to tell them certain things, but mainly "dont do that" and make sure to breathe out. When you breath out your tummy is slimmer than holding your breathe and sucking in.

also tell them when teh choose a pose that they must have small subtle movements, not big ones. and most of teh times to FUCKING smile! Too many models these days think they are all supposed to be high fashion-y/commercial-ly. Some people just dont look good like that.

make sure that when laying down to point their toes (basically flexing their calves)

and try to stay away from shooting armpits. some people can pull it off but most cannot.

Ah, very interesting. Like Joe said, I wouldn't have thought of those things.

When I first looked at #3 I remember thinking it would jave been nicer if she had smiled - she looks a bit like a raging bull.
