I am very interested in the new 50D.

I just talked to Mike about this the other day. It's astonishing how fast technology makes perfectly good equipment obsolete in no time. My 30D bodies are rendered useless when compared to Canon's upcoming 50D or 5D.

I may be saving my money for the new 5D or eventually do it right and buy a MarkIII. (If only it didn't have so many damn focusing problems) I will be needing something better with higher ISO capabilities now that I will be covering sporting events at night.

About time Canon gets their shit into shape and makes themselves useful. The D3 absolutely obliterated anything Canon has ever even come up with, period.

the 1Ds doesnt have the problems IIRC, it was the regular 1D that had the problems...

Yup, you are correct!

I don't have that kind of money to throw around for a body until I start getting reimbursed very seriously for my shooting. Although, at a certain point you definitely become limited by your equipment. You can have the fastest glass in the world but if your camera is only capable of ISO3200 then you can still only do so much.

My fellow photographer that will be shooting with me tomorrow night at the USF game has a D3.

Makes me want to switch to Nikon. D3 + 300 2.8 prime = orgasm.

WHAT!?! I HATE YOU! I'm trying to do everything I can to shoot one of our games! I'm pretty sure that my D300 would do a freaking awesome job with a 70-200 2.8 mounted to it, and with me behind it of course haha I have a pretty damn good eye especially when it comes to sports stuff, just haven't had a chance to do it yet. Our school paper blows and I'm only on "on-call" status with them so I'll prob never be able to get a pass for the field...
