quick tips for: photographer standing, car moving
I want to go out and take a couple pics of my car sliding around. My friend has some kind of dslr cannon, what shutter speed etc would you reccomend to get us started. thanks in advance
All depends on lighting and the picture you want. Some shutter speeds will freeze everything, others will make it blur slightly giving it a "in motion" effect.
You will use above 1/60 but like I said, depends on lighting.

1/60-1/125. Just depends how far away and how fast you are going. The slower shutter speed the more blur but it becomes harder to get a sharp photo

You will have to do some test shots, because no one here can tell you an exact shutter speed to use. Start with 1/60 then look at the result and see how you like it. Make any necessary adjustments and reshoot. Welcome to the world of photography
You also need to think about angle, cart coming toward you or away from you. At 1/160, a parallel shot of the cart at speed will have more motion than the same cart at the same speed coming toward you at an angle.
The shot below is at 1/160, which is a pretty high setting for any sort of panning shot. I chose this setting because I was trying to freeze the right-front tire off the ground (got close) while keeping some sort of motion in the tires.
