Default Lens question

Well im thinking of picking up a new lens something cheap to practice with before i spend the money on a good lens. Right now im eye balling a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, Tamron AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 or Sigma 75-300 f/4.0-5.6. Ive worked something out to where in the next few months ill have a side job doing outdoor portraits for a studio. So the 50mm is looking like something i want to learn with for that. So whats every ones thoughts one these lenses and what would be a nice one to start off with.

Well if you plan on doing portraits in the near future, then what better to practice with than a 50mm? Why go with anything else now if you plan on using a 50mm later anyways? I'm sort of confused though, what lens(es) do you have as of now if you don't own the common glass already?

Sorry to answer your question with even more questions, lol.

50 is pretty much a requirement and they are cheap anyway so buy that and whatever else you want.

The 50mm is awesome! I love mine! Its a great lens! I use it all the time for portraits and to me it makes it feel like theres more feeling in the picture especially when you use a backdrop that makes the individual stand out!
