Default Just found this old Canon Camera..

I just stumbled upon this camera in the storage area in my house.. It's a Canon AE-1 Program. It's been in it's bag for over 20 years, at least that's what my dad said. Looks to be mint, and he said he only used it once or twice when he got it around 20-25 years ago.

Any info on this camera? Will it take decent pictures even though it's pretty darn old? What type of film can I use, and how about batteries?

Here are some pics..

Very neat and clean. I have the same camera. If you're wanting to start and learn you should read up on the manual (if you don't have one search for a pdf on it). Reading and putting it into practice is what I'm still doing, I have the same 50/1.8 lens along with a couple others.

As far as film goes, for B/W start with TMAX 100 or 400 speeds, and color stay within the same region. This film is very versatile and widely used. As you learn more and stumble upon new things you'll learn that this camera is great and a strong platform to follow up on. If interested you should look into flickr's groups and boards where you can see what other people are doing with the equipment.

Oh man i had that same camera for a few years, My god the pictures it can take. I honestly, and the main reason i went to digital, hated developing film. I couldn't do it in my house to paying the $7 and waiting just wouldn't cut it. But if you have patience you can yield some sweet shots with that bad boy.

Nice camera. I'm with Hater though...waiting for developing sucks LOL

We have an old Nikon that my dad gave Matt. Needs some TLC but I wish he would use it. Just to see what the old thing can do.
