Default graphic design etc.?

ok. i need to start designing some business cards and a company logo for my dads new business. i want it to look nice and nothing that looks like it was thrown to gether in MS paint. i have cs3 but im not sure on what everone else is using.

what programs is everyone using for nice DESIGNS, PATTERNS etc. ?

Do you know how to use photoshop brushes? There are thousands of them available in all different kinds of themes and designs. I used one to make the line thing in my sig..

not really about the thems and such. i was also mainly talking about the designing and stuff from the driven concepts card examples that spottedmango had posted. and other crazy designs.

Maybe you could PM yakasoto, he's good with that sort of thing. I guess people use illustrator, not really sure.

Illustrator is good, but im not sure if it would be better then photo shop in this situation. Illustrator is awesome for logo's and drawings. But everything ive done in illustrator is could of done in ps. Its kinda preference...

You can use CS3, Corel...whatever. If he wants full color cards just make sure you leave margin. You can do a google for a full color business card template, or I have on in a PDF if you want.

The possibilities are endless. Depends on what your dad wants. And finding a good printer....I got one of those too. And they are cheap. Not cheap by quality, just cheap because they mass run cards so you get a great price...about $25 for 500 full color d/s shipped to your door.

well all you have to do is find something like This
the go Here and find some vector brushes or some standard ones and have at it.
this company Go Media's Arsenal - Professional Design Weaponry got some good packs just try and find these sets for free and you would be set.

lol idk, i honestly find that program far inferior to adobe. I learned how to use it, and was told it's one of the most widely used graphics programs for pros. Turns out its not. Ah, but that being said i have seen some sweet stuff come out of it.
