Let me get this straight...for the TR in smoke picture, you had these layers...

Bottom Layer - Black
Middle layer - Clouds
Top Layer - TR

But please explain using Brushes to make the smoke.

On my psd design, I have a total of 5 layers.
>Hue/Saturation (the blue color that you see)
>Smoke on the left
>Smoke on the right
>TR (I apply some blur, wind, and outer glow)
>Cloud

As far as the smoke brushes go....click on this link News: THE BEST STOCKS AND BRUSHES OF ALL TIME scroll down. And save them anywhere where is easy for you to find (desk top is better) copy the brushes icon. Then with photoshop open, click on brushes, click on the brushes icon on top. There should be an arrow pointing right, and look for load brushes...click on it. You will get a menu of brushes, paste the brushes that you copied earlier and load them. Look on your brushes, and they should be on the bottom. There are different ways to this....I use this one. When you apply the brushes they will be on a huge size and on whatever color you are on (foreground color). You can change color before, or after you apply them. Or go to blending options to apply a gradient.

I'll admit I overdid it, but it's what I was able to make in 10 minutes based on your instructions. Thanks! Now I have a wallpaper for my computer at my office!

No problem, I you get time to work on it a little bit more.... just make a selection on the clouds bg, using the elliptical marquee tool and then feather it by going to Modify>feather...and I think that I used a high number, between 40 to 70 so just the area that you selected will appear. Then apply some black gradient to add some deph to the cloud.
