The D80 kit is $1,149.95 from B&H. The D50 is discontinued, but it's a great camera (there's a constant debate between the D40 and D50 and which one is better). If you can find a D50 used, it's a great camera and it will likely be at a great price. If you cannot, you can pick up a D40 anywhere.

Also, if you're looking to save money when it comes to equipment buy online instead of at your local electronics super-store. Do not, however, fall for a too-good-to-be-true price. Always check any retailer that you find on Discount Shopping and Store Reviews by Real People at ResellerRatings before buying. Commonly trusted online camera retailers: B&H Photo Video | Digital Cameras, Camcorders Digital cameras, all other cameras and everything photographic from Adorama Camera KEH Camera: Used Cameras, Digital Cameras, Film Cameras, Laptop Computers and More. and so forth.

Are you sure you want to go with a dSLR? You may find your needs met by a nice point/shoot camera as a beginner. Anything more is likely to cause you frustration if you're a novice.

i sold my D50 kit, lens, 1GB card, nice bag, and a few other misc stuff for 350....

i would recomend trying to buy used for your first DSLR, as it is not a huge hobby yet and i wouldnt recomend investing a lot of money untill your sure you want to make the commitment.

the D80 is 900 for the body. and then i bought the 18-200mm ED lens for 750, plus a 500 bucks worth of filters. and 500 worth of warrenties....

so it can get expensive pretty fast. but i have decided to take the next step in the digital path.... i will be good for years with this body. i would like to get the 17-55 lens, but it is 1200-1400.... it gets spendy...

And STIGUY....

i think you shots of sweaty men in tight close with sore asses are very uniuqe....

Lol. Settle down. It's a REAL sport and probably the hardest one out there.

Beside your description of "sweaty men in tight close with sore asses" differs from football how?
