Mark F. Lasch There is a plate by the radiator that tells you the code.

Bill Reagan I've not seen a color on a VIN plate for an s30. Just look in obscure places like inside the tool/jack boxes, under weatherstripping, under door interior panels, spare tire well or drill out the rivets in the VIN plate and look behind it. I would be terribly surprised if any of these areas have been repainted.
Josel Cobangbang Take off the carpet or interior panels. Look at the cubbyies behind the seats. Unless they've done a full repaint inside and out, you should be able to see the original color from there.
Tom Johnson to see the original color look under the dash or trim panels
Adelberto Medina on the 280z nah, it had a paint # label on the top of radiator support, if thats gone you need to check under the bottom door sill plate or scuff plate and hope you find the original color and compare with the DATSUN COLOR chart.
Alejandro Mendoza The car had been restored 11 years ago and the previous owner dosnt know if the ones who restored it had been repainted

Keanan Morris I know this is completely off topic, but this Z is absolutely gorgeous with the cherry blossom vinyl.
Adelberto Medina My other project Z was painted silver, but when i took the scuff plate off the original color was charcoal grey/ gun metal .
