How much work to fix this? (front damage, '99 EM1)
Long story short, I just bought a '99 Si at a damn good price - catch was, it had some damage on the front of the car. I took the bumper and headlights off today to see exactly what's going on and it seems the bumper is dented in and down on the passenger side, so I was thinking of using a tree to pull it out and up.
Here are some pics, any input would be appreciated! Also, how much would a bumper+core support go for if I were to want and get a whole new one, and where could I find it?
Thanks guys! Pics follow, just check the photobucket album.

Looks like it is gonna take a bit of work to repair that., from the pics i can see the front impact bar is crushed in, and it also looks like there may be some front end rail damage. The front impact bar (bumper) needs to be replaced since it is a safety Structural part of the vehicle and can affect air bag deployment timing, also you can try a tree and come-a-long, but i doubt that will work on much more than simple stamped sheet metal, that rebar is Thicker and prolly high strength steel, and same goes for the frame rails, you would have to tie the car down, say to a frame machine, if u dont the car will just lift up in the air lol.
Call the local Honda dealer they will be able to give you prices for all your parts.
Other than that i would need to see the car in person. - mike

Thanks man, I'm seeing this as the front impact bar:

Part 005. Not bad, ~$100. Do you think the core support itself can be pulled out using a tree as support? I'm trying to make it as good as possible before I resort to a body shop, as body work is not by any means cheap. Once again, thanks for the help!

Yes that is the part. It bolts to the front frame rails and the core support is in between the core support consist of all the front sheet metal where the headlights bolt up to, and where the radiator and condenser sit. Its hard to tell from your pics but it looks as if the impact bar is un level, and usually that means that the frame rails are affected as well, but like i said its hard to tell from the pics, but u can pull on the core support, but if the rails are down/ tweaked you will only be distorting the core support more. Got to check the frame rails and make sure there where they need to be.
Sounds good man, thanks. I will take off the fenders and everything else and have a go at it. Will take pictures and post em up. How much would a body shop actually charge to get this kind of work done?>
it all depends on the amount of damage etc, average body shop labor is 42.00 /hr and off the top of my head a car with damage similar to yours, of course im making some assumptions here is about 20-30 hours give or take of course. This is an example of what u have to do to properly pull a car with frame damage.
