it all depends. are you doing the body work yourself (sanding, any filling, etc) or do you want the painter to do that? prepping is 90% of the work. if you can do it yourself and do it right, it won't cost much it all to just have someone spray the car.

well I go to school for this currently, and have done painting prior to going there but wouldn't be able to tell you. all i can say is it depends on too many factors to get a quote off a website by you saying its an EK and needs this or that. it depends on the work needed, the materials you use (higher quality is obviously more expensive), and the amount of experience the painter has. go under the paint/body/detailing thread and look for the thread by something Cd5 i think his name is, he does good work it appears and i think its reasonable. ill see if i can find the link for you

Cheaper isn't always better.

For what you are interested in, I would think anywhere from $2500+ would be a safe estimate. Remember the old saying, you get what you pay for.

thats true, but some people might not want to put that kind of money into a car worth between $2500-$4000 in stock form, depending on condition. you'll never get out of a paint job what you put into it..
EX: $2000 car, $2500 paint job, probably sell for $3500..its like putting mods on a car, they dont gain/hold their value, they depreciate, same with anything else you do on a car. i'd send a message to the guy i posted the link to and see what he charges. you could even have it sprayed at a maaco or some cheap place, you know you can always pay for a good paint job. they dont spray half bad, its just they use cheap materials and dont prep. get that done and have them use a dupont set up and youll be set.
