Carbon Fiber Sun Damage
Carbon Fiber Sun Damage
My APR Carbon Fiber Spoiler looks like shit from sun damage. The entire clearcoat is flaking off. Does anyone know were I could get it refinished? All these lame bodyshops around here won't even touch it.

he he he...maybe sanding it down and reclearing it? I dont think they come with clear to begin with just a clear gel coat? but not positive. You see alot of the C/F shits that people buy doing that. I dont know I would try to sand and reclear. sounds like your only hope.

you could get it recleared for about 100-150 at most places I would think.

Few things with CF hoods.
If your hood is just faded, you can generally sand down and re-clear. Depending on the hood's quality, some come cleared, and I've seen some that are not. The most important thing when sanding is not penetrate the gel-coat. We've also come across a lot of hoods, where the gel-coats have actually cracked. With our experience, you can 'hide' a lot of of the cracks, by sanding down and 'lay' a coat of THICK clear. Seems that the clear actually fills in the cracks. Depending on how bad the hood is, you can expect to pay $120~$250.

I believe you have a round about estimate from me and spotted mango on the extent of the cost. you shouldn't see anything higher than 250 for sure.
Most shops wont mess with it though they will be to busy doing insurance work. but shops like mine and Spotted Mango's will do it. I would go to a smaller independent shop.
