NO, it would not be worth it to use the 99 cent. There is only one kind of spray paint you need to use. Krylon. And yes, it is worth it to clear coat it.

NOTHING works like Krylon. And how long it takes it to flake/chip/etc. depends on how good of prep work you do before laying it down and how clean you get the surface. Do the prep work properly and put some of that Krylon on and clear over it and it isn't going anywhere. I did it on my bike and haven't had 1 chip since then.

i'd say rustolium, i used to paint graffiti and in my opinion krylon sprays too thin its like water. i've also painted muliple bike frames with clear of course and as long as you prep properly it will turn out great. rustolium sprays like paint.

Duplicolor spray paint is junk compared to Krylon. The Rustolium is okay. I've used all three on numerous surfaces, and in order from best to worst its Krylon, Rustolium, and then Duplicolor. USe Krylon everything. You will not regret it. It lays down as flat as if you were using a professional gun and if you prep the area, and especially if you clear it, it becomes REALLY durable once it clears. We hit a test peice with no primer, just paint and clear on bare metal, with a wrench several times after 2 days of curing and it was like a fucking rock.

I would not paint a car this way at all. You could just go to Maco and have them paint it for the same price you will spend in cans.

$20 says I can get a Krylon spray paint paint job to look better than Maaco's paintjobs. And I wouldn't be using some integrated clearcoat nonsense, I'd primer, base, and topcoat it. In relativley CLEAN surroundings. After properly PREPPING the vehicle.

These are things that Maaco doesn't do. And this is what makes them worthless.
