it would take you forever to paint an entire car with an airbrush...plus, you would see the striations from the airbrush strokes.

The gun will tell you what PSI you need, mine is 30psi.

Most True Hvlp Guns Only Need 10psi Max At The Cap Thats Why I Use On My Sata Nr2000 Which Is What I Use For Base.... Hvlps Do Not Spray Clear Real Well Just To Help You Out Plus Ure Not Looking At The Psi The Compressor Is Set At Rather Then How Much Max Cfm Ure Compressor Can Put Out @40psi To How Much Cfm Your Gun Requires

My gun says max pressure - 45psi. The cap on the end of my gun says max pressure 10psi. I asked "the guy" at the paint shop what the pressure I needed and he said 40-45psi.

That is about the extent of my knowledge of pressure. I think I should have quoted that like I was told in my above reply. I didn't know it would be different per situation, my appologies.

reg gravity feed guns need to beset around 45 psi to blow at 30psi
becuase of the long hose 50ft or 100ft you get a drop from the compressor to the gun

a hvlp gun is like 8-10 psi

be sure to get a regulator for the gun its a little screw on guage that fit into the gun so you can adjust it to get the perfect air pressure.

but rember it also depends on how the paint flows such as base/clear/acrylic/enamal your spread and adjustments on the gun can make it very a few pounds.

Just ne sure to set up a test area and spray a few times untill you get the right settings .
