Hey all!

I've got an 01 325i and I'm looking to speed it up a little. I don't want to spend a lot of money and don't want to break my warranty. Any suggestions??

Thx!

I'm looking for more along the lines of tricks right now. It's been a long time since I did this stuff, but we used to flip the tops of our air cleaners over (not good for the intake but it worked), change to hi-flo air filters, change to better plugs, and advance the timing a touch. Stuff like that - maybe enough to pick up 20-25 HP until I get serious.

Does anyone know about stuff like that?

um, its a bmw dude, not a honda. you cant neccesarily do that with your car lol...i have a K&N drop in filter and it was worth the money, not too much of a power adder obviously, but definately a noticiable change in throttle response and more torque in the higher rpms for me

I think he was using that as an example. flipping air cleaner covers over is a old domestic V8 trick. my dads truck has the air cleaner cover upside down.

get a k&n, play with timing, and make a header back exhaust, keep the stock exhaust handy for trips to the dealer. unless they dont care.

Yea, that was what we did 20 years ago when I got my first car. '76 Cutlass Salon, 350 Rocket, 350 TH tranny, and .333 rear end. I built up the bottom half of the motor, went from vacuum to mech. secondaries on the carb, changed out the tranny, and all the rest. Then I learned what part the rear end gearing plays in final drive. LOL!

What do ya mean make a header back exhaust. It sounds like you're talking the piping and not the manifold. Sorry for sounding like a newbie, but things have changed so much I guess that's what I am.
