Looking for a murderer
So, I've been gone for a couple years due to military service, and when I came back home for good, I log onto my trusty forum only to find out that TR has since died. I remember a point in time I had to bump a FS thread for broken S13 headlights and 180sx garnishes 3 times in a day just to keep it on the first page. Now I can go two weeks without even looking and it's still in the top 5. What happened? Who's responsible for this catastrophe?

Welcome back. I've only been on here for about a year and it's basically craigslist with everyone selling their parts and cars. Every once in a while there's a cool update on a build thread. I've been between Iraq and Afghanistan for the past 36 months but going home for an extended dwell in a month.
As to why it's like this...have discussed with friends on other forums and its the same ambiance. We chock it up to the economy forcing people to move and cut back on extra spending like car parts. It'll probably be a few years before we start seeing a boom in spending again.

It's not even that. TR got sold to a company that just buys forums for advertising. So the whole site runs way slower from all the ads. On top of that, Facebook groups got super popular for buying and selling parts/ discussing things/ builds/ pretty much everything this forum was for.

First I want to thank you for your service. If it wasn't for our military keeping terrorists busy
in their own country, the terrorists would be waging war in the US.
I also remember the times of which you speak. You are not allowed to say this site has died.
If you want to talk about the reasons this site is the way it is, you will have to contact me on facebook. Nothing to do with the economy. Nothing to do with new owners.
Of the last 70 posts, four of them were not "for-sale" type ads and that is
seen by you-know-who as an indication that this is a thriving site.

as much as it pains me to do this, for I remember when David dabuet here, but he is 100% correct. since the buyout this site has tanked HARD. and it is a TERRIBLE shame. I miss when it was a thriving community. A friend and I were actually lamenting about this exact issue last night.
