So since i bought this dodo ass car, only one thing bothered me more then the aesthetic cracks in the dash. My damn gas gauge.



Can someone let me borrow any s14 zenki or kouki cluster so i can locate the problem. It can be busted as hell as long as the gas needle moves with the tank.

 

It's not your cluster dood. It's the fuel sending unit located in the gas tank next to the fuel pump. 95 is unique, 96-98 are all the same.
Here's a picture of it.

Light is airbag, I opened up the tank today and the sending unit is still on the bracket

 

lemmie get some gas

 

Just because it's on the bracket, doesn't mean it's working properly...

 

Yea i have heard they get popped loose often, but i thought the needle would go to E when the car is off if it was a sending unit problem.

 

If it's not the fuel sending unit (what I'm putting my money on), look into your bunk cluster wiring. Whoever converted it fucked it up.

 

The cluster wiring looks completely oem. Do the clusters ever just bust? And how can the sending unit affect the gauge when the cars off? I'll get one if your that positive

 

Sometimes the sending unit acts retarded if someone twists the spring connected to the actual assembly not being carefull messing with the fuel pump. I had this issue on my S13 only it would go down all the way to (E) after making sharp turns and then moving up little by little each time my car was shut on and off. But S13 fuel assemblys might be different then S14's so Only thing i can tell you just fill the car up with gas and adjust the meter properly to (Full) and see what happens.
