I'd start off by loosing the supra spoiler...that's retarded and check to see how many bolt's your axle's have. Then search around to see what purpose you want the diff for.

to OP I currently have a J30 VLSD vicious diff which i'm about to sell and find something else. Gears too tall but many like them for drifting or good for top speed cars that have alot of power.

You guys should start an "I don't know how to use the internet" club.

For the record:

A z32 differential will make your car suck.

The number of bolts on an axle has nothing to do with a differential being an lsd or not.

4 lug and 5 lug have nothing to do with an lsd.

A J30 differential also sucks unless you are trying to drive 180mph and want super long shitty gears.

If you can't figure out if you have an lsd or not buy doing a burnout something is wrong with you.

Find a 4.08 S14 VLSD, 4.36 180sx differential, or spend money and buy an awesome s15 hlsd and use either of the aforementioned ratios.

I'm keeping the spoiler just because you said something about it lol. It is my car so I will do as I please. The spoiler was on the car when i got it and I was planning on getting a new one, but definitely not anytime soon.

As for the diff. I have a SE and the guy who bought it has like all of the optional upgrades. one of the possible upgrades was the LSD, that is why I am unsure as to what i have.

Infact I wish it was a supra spoiler, because that would be cooler than it being an eclipse spoiler, which i think it is.

I sat there for about a minute thinking, What the hell is he saying? Calling my car an eclipse????? Lol. and its not off topic since the good man up there brought up my spoiler. I was mainly asking the question "how can i tell what diff i have?"

Step 1 - Place a jack under your differential.
Step 2 - Jack your car up.
Step 3 - Spin one of your rear tires clockwise by hand.
Step 4 - Observe rotation of wheels

Tests:
1. - Have a friend hold the opposing tire while you rotate your wheel. If his wheel is able to remain stationary while you are rotating yours you have an open differential.
1.5 - If the other wheel spins opposite the one you're rotating you have a 99% chance of having an open differential. The other 1% possibility is a s15 hlsd which I highly doubt would be left in a 1k dollar car.
2. - Do a burnout and observe whether or not there are one or two tire marks left on the street after said burnout
3. Uninstall differential from car and remove rear cover. If it looks like this you have a vlsd.

If it looks like this you have an open differential

The ring gear is missing in the second picture.

Conclusions: If your wheels rotate in a counter clockwise manner you either have a hlsd (which is very unlikely) or you have a open differential.

All this information can be found very easily on that magical place we call google.

+1 more vote for selling your car and buying a Honda.
