what are you power goals? acl race bearings are my choice/ although clevites are runner up, all depends on the builder and their preference, tomato>tamato.

yes if you are going with a stock to mild build, all depends on the desired power.

Would you consider 500-550hp mild power?

on an sr that would be considered a heavy build. Not to be taken lightly, in other words the small short cuts taken will show up not in your favor (stock bearings, not replacing vital parts(oem oil pump), head/main studs, proper machining, etc. YES people have run oem bearings on there 500hp sr but its risky thats my point, you dump thousands in parts and you cheap out on $200 worth of bearings, thats tard in my book.

i'd run oem bearing in a ka they dont make power! jk jk

I've yet to see properly maintained OEM bearings spontaneously fail on a high horsepower ka or sr. I pulled apart a beat to shit 200k mile ka and the bearings looked new, and also yanked apart few abused sr's with the same result. Low oil pressure, low oil period will kill any bearing. I can't comment on ACL's but I have seen clevites and I wasn't very impressed... To each his own though!

ACL= mazworx (mee too)
clevites= Nascar
OEM= even used in 500+whp motors

New bearings are a good thing as long as you can cange your oil when needed. I didnt need to upgrade, just wanted a piece of mind.

Well my power goals are to be set around 400. I have all acl bearings and really just wanted to see what everyone els is running and has had good luck with. Apparently a few of the evo guys can't stand acl and they prefer clevite. They have told me acl are notorious for spining?

^ very true! A properly maintain will very rarely have random failures. It mainly boils down to how well the person who built and spec'ed the motor for proper bearing thickness, then verfied the tolerances when the motor was assembled. it's always good to double check bearing clearance because when using aftermarket companies they can vary in thickness among the same batch or if a coating has been applied to a bearing that will also increase thickness that may not be accounted for that can ultimatley ruin a motor in no time.

I myself will always trust in oem bearings. not saying that aftermarkets are no good but oem seem to withstand anything you throw at them as long as they are properly measured.
