Default Brake up-grade

So I just recently did a ka-t and now I'm wanting/ needing to do bigger brakes. Why do some ppl choose z32 over q45 and vise versa and which is substantially better for an s13 running off of a afc tune

Thanks for your time and suggestions

q45 is kind of the in between the stock and the z32.. they are 2 piston calipers... usually a lot cheaper... and if you're 5 lug, should be a straight bolt up. (I think)

many people see the z32 swap as over kill, especially given that most of the time, the swap costs several hundred bucks.
(always check the prices for "new" parts at the part's stores... you can get both front calipers, reman'ed from advance for cheaper than most people will sell them used)

i find it easier to find q45 calipers and components in the junkyard. in ur case either upgrade will suffice. ive got a few extra sets of q45 calipers and some drilled rotors if u got somethin to trade for em lol. make sure ur suspension and wheels will clear tho.

I'm 4 lug right now, thinking about doing the 5 lug conversion but I kno I'll wind up spending more money if I go that route because I'll need the rims. I've already done the price check on z32 calipers through the parts stores.

WhiteNgold: do u think I could get away w/ giving them my s13 brakes w/o causing suspicion and waisting time?

If the 5 lug conversion winds up happening, would I also need the steering knuckle as well?

^^ ya... i deal with them all day everyday and do the same with axles... if i have a job i gotta replace cv axles and the car isnt there or i havent started yet i have them send me new ones and give em some random ones i got layin around. same w alt, calipers, m/c, etc... they dont know the diff and dont care either. just buy em'.. install them, and put ur stocks back in the box and giver em to em...

Don't quote me on it, but I'm 75% sure you can use Sentra SE-r 4 lug rotors with Q45 brakes, so everything should just bolt up.

street car Q brakes will be all you ever need for the street.
If you are actually going to road race, the Z brakes will give you better heat dissapation and should have less fade after multiple laps.
