help!!! my ignition fell apart
i get in my car today. and put my key in and turn.......
theres no feeling. it just moved around freely, then my key hole start coming apart. first comes off the cover, then i notice the ingition module thing connected to the steering wheel is moving around. not freely but loose. then the little cylinder thing that you put the key into(basically the locking cylinder) slides completely out. so i took off the plastic around the steeringwheel. and noticed a few things, first off my steering wheel is locked, and it wont unlock. i tried for 2 hours. cant push start it because the wheel is turned. is this a common problem with 240's? how can i unlock my steering wheel so i can push start it. i found out also that on the opposite of the key hole. there is a big plug that turns with the key. if you take that off you can start the car with just a screw driver. my screw fell of so that was also unplugged. i need to unlock the steering wheel and im 99 percent sure i can start it with a screwdriver. any help will be great thx...

Whattadobo told me that you have to take a hammer and chisel to them to score them out. Then you can undo them with a flathead screw driver? I never did it though. =/
well aparently he already went through this. one of the bolts was missing causing it to be loose, and the other wasnt tamper proof. it was a regular 12 mm bolt. took the whole lock device off. anyone know where i can get a custom push button start installed without my locking device intact.

I have a spare ignition cylinder (dremel cut the tamper bolts = flathead now), and the key with it.

if you keep that whole cylinder off the steering column, the lock is part of it so its gone... i ground mine down with a bench grinder though.
push button will be like $50+ prolly.

i think his steering column is fine.... shit i guess i could just hook u up with the bolts... thats all you REALLY need right?

Well he said the steering is locked because of the broken cylinder. I have one that isn't locked for sale. Fuck, I would even install it if he wants.
And I have a ghetto ign toggle switch start if you want it to. It needs one connector replaced on it, but I'm sure you could find it at radioshack for no more than $2.

yea, i think youve got to drill them out.. ive got an extra key cyl you can put you internals into i believe..
