350z door latch

350z door latch

Nothing was found in the search. The driver side outside door latch on the 05 350z stopped working. Any diagnostic suggestions? Any Pinellas repair shops experienced with 350z's? Thanks.

Pull the door panel and look inside for the metal rod that connects the outside handle to the latch mechanism.
Sometimes there is a plastic sleeve end that goes on the metal rod, and it sometimes falls out.

Let us know what you find so we can all get smarter.

A youtube poster removed the external handle without removing the door panel, and replaced the handle. A plastic connecting part in the handle failed. Does anyone have an account with a Nissan dealer to get a discount on the part?

sometimes that plastic connecting sleeve can be bought in a bag at NAPA
and sometimes as an assortment in the "Help!" bubble packs at Pep Boys
and probably for far less at both places than the dealer part.

There is also a metal substitute that fits over the metal rod end and pivots
over to lock onto the metal rod......and will never break like plastic does.

Have any pictures of the plastic part?

I haven't tried to remove the handle, since I've never done it before. I'd still prefer to get help from a mechanic with 350z experience, except for the dealer, who charges too much.

After 9 years, I'm still looking for help in getting the door handle fixed. I did get the battery replaced, so now it's running. I didn't see any 350Zs at a few car shows over the years, but I'll try again. What Pinellas shows should I try?
