My New to me X...
I'm in the market for a home, well actually things are quite a bit further than that now. I've put a deposit down and pending the inspectors findings will push forward with the home I've chosen.
With that said, I needed a cheaper car payment. I couldn't afford what I was paying and a home at the same time. I think a nice house is more important that a "nice" vehicle when I spend a total of 30mins in it most days. My newish vehicle had to have certain options; towing/hauling, I want to be able to tow my 240 to various events/tracks and associated gear, 4WD, and room for a family.
I see this as an oppurtunity to investment in my... err, our future (my girl and I), so something had to give. I decided, with a lot of deliberation, that the STI had to go. I didn't want to do it, I loved that car, it was a great all-around vehicle, but for us and our future, it had to be done. I ended up trading it in on a 10' X Offroad. I'm extremely happy with the way things went. I was offered more than what I owed on the STI and I'll be getting more money back once the extended warranty cancellation process completes. The 10' had 54k miles on it, super clean, some signs of offroad adventures, but what else is that vehicle meant for?
Seeing as I have a 30day guarantee, I had to try out the 4wd. So, the evening I purchased the X, we went mudding. I was extremely surprised how composed it was on some of the trails and how well it handled the mud and water holes. I don't have any pictures of the evening, but it will see some more offroad adventures just as the name implies.

I'm hoping that Empire can/will start a sub-forum for the X/Frontier and the other trucks Nissan produces...
Thanks for looking

The nice thing about the truck is it shares the F-alpha platform with the Frontier/Pathfinder/Titan/Armada and tons of parts are interchangeable. My first mod will probably be a M205 front diff(Titan/Armada/V8 Pathfinder) and Pathfinder axles(same wheel base as the X). I'm finding it a common occurance that the R180 breaks quite often and the M205 is twice as strong.
I had a 2007 frontier for a few years back in 2007.
Was a great truck. Strong motor and was not to bad on gas all things considered. I would get 20-21 mpg with mixed driving.
I almost bought a X when i got rid of it till I ran across a incredible deal on a loaded explorer V8 4x4.

Nothing in the way of Fords really impress me. I have a soft spot for their go fast cars and I'm impressed with their ecoboost V6. However, their build quality and styling is just not there for me(better than it has been) and other than the coyote motor, their V8's suck. This is my personal opinion though.
Mine is up to 283k miles and I have yet to change anything under the hood including the transmission.
It's at the point now where it's a game to see just how long it will last before starting to have problems.

I am not a fan of fords 4 and 6 cylinder motors but there V8 modulars are very well designed.

At 283k miles it's hard to ask for more. I'm hoping to get plenty of life from my X and driving under 10k miles a year will help. Based on my experience with Nissan and their vehicles, I shouldnt have an issue. Hopefully the truck doesn't get SMOD, it's a costly repair and I'm thinking about bypassing the cooler in the radiator to prevent it.
What year is your Explorer? My cousin has one and he's had both catalytic converters go out and some other issues as well. Granted he isn't the most car suavy guy and he drives like a maniac.

It's 2003 V8 4x4.
I bought it several years ago with like 46k miles. Never expected to keep it this long but now it's like a game to me to see how long it will go before I have to start replacing stuff.
Up to now I've only replaced brakes and wheel bearings.
