whats up guys just picked up my first sr and had a fast questoin. was out driving it today and the boost was strong then it just lost boot and started poring out black smoke. I can hear the turbo making an awful screching sound like metal is rubbing and it wont make any boost, is my turbo shot or should i be looking for a boost leak.

Check you manifold to turbo gasket. Try wiggling your turbo, if you can, you'll need to replace said gasket and tighten down on the hardware.

 

Check for boost leaks first. It also might be your wastegate actuator fell off:



Same thing happened on my RB, would just scream metal on metal noise and make no boost.

 

Boost leak, really? Take the intake off and see how the turbo feels...

 

actually i think ifouldn it, i was check it out tonight and there was an extra tube on the side of the ic piping and it had a cap on it and the cap top blew off, so i am hoping that is the problem, will know in the am. If so i will be in bradenton tomrrow night lol just hope i dont blow her up lol its along way from st pete lol
