300zx amps, anyone redone their sound system

i am planning on puting a new sound system in my dads 1991na300zx. I heard that each speaker has its own amp. is this true, are the amps close by?
How is wiring a new amp to new speakers? Can I use stock wires or do the individual amps complicate that?
I was just going to remove all the old amps and speakers, put in a new radio/cd, new amp, and new front door speakers(or should I do the backs instead)
I haven't been able to look at it yet, in diff town. Any help would be appreciated.

trash the entire system. dont try to salvage any of it. run new quality speaker wires. You can do an effective system to replace it by using a good pioneer deck to power the interior speakers, and prolly an 8" powered bazooka in the back. simple, lightweight, cost effective.
for the interior speakers get some decent coaxials from Ciruit City or best buy. Make sure that when u listen to them u have enough treble coming from them...because with a pioneer you can always tweak it back. Use the pioneer decks crossover to: coaxes > 100 and the bazooka < 100.
that should rock the mic. just my $3.50

Whatever you do, don't put 4 12's in the back.
but yeah, rip the entire system out. it's all crap.
When I got my Z, the guys at the dealership tried to make a point that it had a bose system....I was like 'oh great more shit to rip out'
The speakers have a huge plastic encasing that leaves a really big hole in the door's and over the rear wheel wells. the door panels are a pain in the ass to take off, it takes a good 15 mins to take each off. it also is a pain to get to the rear speakers.
everything about the 300z is complicated it seems.
