Exhaust port/cumbution chamber coating ??
What is it? what does it do?
The only times I ever really hear about it is on high power builds, like 1,000 whp type of builds.
Sometimes the coating is red, sometimes it is black.
I mostly see it in the exhaust ports, but every so often, I'll see the combustion chamber coated too. On rare occations, I
'll see the inside of the exhaust manifold coated in something similar, then the exterior cermanic coated.
Pictures from a 1,000+ whp 300zx build.
someone then asks -
and the only response given is
Here's the thread they are from - 300zxClub.com (Nissan 300ZX Forums)
those pictures are on page 6.
I would have to assume it is a sort of heat block.

That's pretty cool lookin...What is the chem. composition of that coating?
Is it baked on or is it an epoxy coating or some sort?

can't say either way. I did the coating this morning and finalized the first head. All I was allowed to do was to take a pic to show everyone here..was not allowed to divulge anything more. Typical gains are 15-30HP next is chambers and valves.
