Default 20x 1/8 mile runs at sunshine tonight. Looking for helpfull input.

92 240sx vert, stripped, no sound deadening (cage going in next week), stance coilovers @ 8 of 16 clicks, 225/45/17 bfg drag radials, nismo 2 way, s13 sr made 270whp @ 9 psi(built bottom end/550's/gt28 spec R/tune/zmaf).

Best of the night:
rt.... .122
60'....1.93
330...5.556
1/8...8.551
mph..82.99

First: I got a gismo ibc from mike and it already had a 17.5 psi(putting me neer 320-330whp?) setting so Ive been running that for a couple months no prob. After I installed the bfg's and go to the track It would only boost 12-13 psi. I had 3/4 tank of gas because I went on a wimmm...
Could the extra grip load be the reason for the missing 4.5 psi? Any ideas wheres the boost? Anyone with gismo ibc knowledge wanna help me tune it in better as I would really like more boost sooner? (seems laggy for a ebc)

2nd: I broke a power steering pump at cfrc from overheating(I have a ps cooler). Tonight on my 2nd to last run I could hear the used pump on its last leg.
Could the pump cause cavitation and not flowing the fluid when I was revving to 7,500 RPM causing overheating?

Im not that big on dragracing but it was fun and its better than sitting at home. Any help, input, comments or tips are greatly appreciated.

Run a full tank of gas. You have plenty of power so the extra 50-100 lbs isn't a big deal. 1/8th mile is all about the launch and on an S13 with the tank way out back, more weight there should help.
Coilovers (unless they're 4k or less) suck for hooking. Stock rear struts/springs make a great drag setup, and it's only 6 bolts total. Theoretically, jacking up the adjustment (rebound) in the front will transfer load to the rear faster off the line.
No idea why your Gismo won't make proper boost. Check that you didn't accidentally change to a different preset. 17.5psi isn't 320-330whp on a T28. They'll max at 300whp at 16psi, and just add more mid-range torque after that. If you're in the 4-5.5k rpm range during the run, it's probably worth it to run that bit of extra boost to maximize power under the curve.

Thanks for the reply! You seem to always have the best info. I have z32 uprights, would the z32 rear struts fit or is that s14's? Have to swap springs?

Also at 7500 rpm my trans dont like to shift. I have a b&m shifter, use RP max gear oil and have never had a problem shifting before but at the same time I haven't really ever shifted at 7500. I really had to finess it into the next gear all night which Im sure slowed me down a tad.

It sux PS pumps are $160 new at advance.

sound good man , like epstein said ,keep the tank as full as possible 60lbs is not much and is not worth it to destroy and engine. in my set up i try to keep it at least half of tank

On Z32 uprights for S13, you can run Z32 struts with S13 springs and S13 hats.

Actually, I've seen a set of Z32 rear S13 front koni yellows floating around, which would be an awesome setup for DD, drag, grip, and saying FU to harsh china-boop coils. With the right upper mounts and Ground Controls, you can go low enough to not get made fun of, too. But I digress. It's been a while since some asked questions about things other than how to crash at an oval.

Synchros are getting worn on that trans. Just slam that shit into gear. Another FS5W71C is like, what, $75? You're probably not being as hard on the trans as you think. That B&M shifter takes a ton of effort just to shift normally because they screwed up the leverage so much. Really getting ham-fisted with that shifter is likely just being somewhat aggressive on a stock shifter.

Bill, make sure the overboost function is turned off. I had an issue with that, when I had that controller. I turned it on by accident and any time I would get near the boost setting, it would skip to the next setting.

my lag is your courtesy head start

ATTENTION.... installing a head gasket, head studs or pistons and rods in your otherwise STOCK engine dose not make it a "built" engine! stop listing you cars for sale saying they are built when its not!!

I have a similar setup as you do and have ran over 100 times in the 1/4 mile with my 240. Some of the differences i have is Megan coils they are setup with the softest setting in the front and a mid setting of stiffness in the rear. I have the mickey 255 drag radials. I also have an ecu tuned by enthalpy but, mine has a two step on it for 5700 for the lunch. I usually don't have but 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank of gas in the car. My best time which i have backed up many times are:

60' - 1.661
330 - 5.026
1/8 - 7.698
mph 92.87
1/4 - 11.944
mph 114.51

I do have a gt2871r but, if your hp numbers are right then i would think you would be able to get somewhat close to these times. One thing you might try is to look at your drag radials what tire pressure are you running? How long of a burnout do you do? I run 17 lbs. of pressure which is the lowest you should run. My burnout i get the tires wet first then i do a 2nd gear burnout for about 5 seconds. For the boost variance I would look at your vacuum lines and see if there is something going on there. Then look at the settings of the boost controller. Hope this helps out a little.
